Default How to make pve a little less dumbed-down

Sabway, Discordway, Searing flames (and possibly others) success in pve is thanks to most mobs inability to remove conditions/hexes effectively. A simple mend ailment can stop your discordway in its tracks. Or painful bond being removed from a poor sod being hammered by 6 spirits.

Now if every pve mob of the appropriate profession (monk and ranger for example) had a basic hex/condition removal it should not pose a threat to experienced players but teach new ones how to coverhex/condition.

For example.

Level 1-5 monks have remove condition or remove hex
Level 6-15 monks/rangers have mending touch or antidote sig repectively
Level 16+ monks have dismiss condition. rangers keep antidote sig.

Pve is already so ridiculously easy that this simple solution won't make it ubermode or probably even make a difference but at least it will make players give some of these brainless builds some thought and give pve some dignity. It is not difficult to put an extra parasitic bond over that barbs or mark of rodgort.

Besides it will teach nubs to cover that conjure phantasm.

People will just switch to physicalway. Too many OP things already. Besides, the strength of sabway is in minions + infinite energy, not necessarily reactive hexes.

Discordway wins because it combines defense with armour ignoring damage, the hexes/conditions are only short term means to this.

HM without gimmicks is not easy.

Since the game has to cater to all players be they casual dedicated talented or inept what you need is a game that covers all those eventualities.

So either there is an intelligent ai system that learns from its mistakes and increases in difficulty as the players rise in level and ability.

Or you have multiple difficulty levels currently the game has 2 levels perhaps a third is needed, since some find hard mode not a challenge.

Drop the use of consumables and vary the skill mix of the mobs so we don't know what we will face in an area before we get there.

Sabway and discordway are examples of people adapting to the challenge that HM presented. The game got harder, so the players evolved the gameplay and adapted to that.
Having said that, the game is fine as is. Let people play what they like at the difficulty they like without the consequence of your own desires. Even if a change is made, so too will the players, and in the end, it will have been no different than before.

New players will not be able to use SabWay, Discordway and the like.
Most team builds including heroes need skills and heroes from several parts of the game. By the time they gain those the player should already have encountered some hex and condition removal on their way.

I don't know what the problem is with efficient builds.
Sure, they don't really teach the player how the game works. But as far as PvE is concerned this has never been a real issue. Many players run gimmic and figure new things out slowly or never. Even back in 2006 certain farming teams demanded certain builds. Some players understood why those builds worked and added more power, many never figured out more than 'the build works'. Is that good, is that bad? I don't know, it's PvE, where everyone wants to be a hero and play the way (s)he likes to.

Changing the game mechanics will take too much time for the Live Crew to put into place. I mean look how far behind they are on skill balance updates, and you want them to basically add a skill, and tweak the AI as to when and how to use it? Do you not realize how long that will take for every creature in the game??

PvE will always be stupid easy, either A) Get use to it, and abuse it simplicity or B) VQ with 1 less guy/only do HM with 5 skills instead of 8. Find ways to make it difficult.

Threads like this honestly serve no purpose other then to be flame/troll wars, and essentially serve as you to say how people should play. PvE is easy for a reason, everyone can just jump into it, and do it without much skill.

meh, a couple hex and condition removals will not be able to handle the overwhelming number of hexes and conditions that are poured out by sabway and discordway.

Leave mesmers alone already.

Really.

The problem is PvE (title based) skills.

They can't even do the code for seven hero parties, and you think they could make that sort of AI? Lolno.

HM itself is a gimmick.
